It was a great show of love for Christopher Esin aka Mista Xto by the people of Oron federal constituency on Saturday February 14,2015.
Xto who is vying for the seat in the house of representatives was presented a flag of victory by Accord party guber candidate, Bishop Sam Akpan and State Chairman, Joe Itiaba. Speaking as the party toured all the five local governments in Oron fed constituency, Mista Xto noted that it was the turn of Udung Uko to produced the next federal house member as it never did so in the past and promised effective representation if elected by the people.
He added that if Udung Uko is given the mandate to go to the federal house, it will strengthen the unity of oro nation and will give oro more voices at the centre as all the five LGAs of Oro nation shall have a voice. The music star and trade unionist noted that in the current configuration, Udung Uko had been greatly marginalised; he pointed out that okobo is the entrance into oro from the mainland and the peace in oro is first felt through them.
Xto said “they will not allow the zoning understanding that holds that peace together to be scuttled by their own as a dangerous precedent will be set that will also affect them negatively in future”. This statement drew a loud applause in Okobo and Okobo people pledged to make sure that the house of reps seat goes to Udung Uko that has never produced one.
In Udung Uko LGA, an Elder Ntekim in his speech referred to xto as Iboro Akam udung Uko which sent the crowd into wild jubilation. Udung uko women gave the federal house hopeful 20litres of palm oil for fighting for their land. The crowd went to a frenzy at each of venues as Xto spoke passionately about the under development of Oron while also singing in Oro language to entertain his audience. Speaking with our reporter on anonymity, an elder statesman in from Okobo stated in Amanmong, “We have always known Xto as Oron Michael Jackson, because he put Oron language on the world stage via his music but what am hearing from him today has surprised me.
I didn’t know he was this intelligent. He dealt with issues and marshalled out his idea with great enthusiasm. Oron will vote for him”. The event was witnessed thousands of supporters in the 5LGs in Oron federal constituency as well as all Accord party candidates in the state.
