New Permanent  Secretaries in Akwa Ibom State have been implored to imbibe the uncommon sacrificial spirit of his administration and continue to serve their fatherland with absolute determination.

Governor Godswill Akpabio, who gave the charge Tuesday during the swearing in of two newly appointed permanent secretaries in the state at the Governor’s Office, Uyo, remarked, “Your elevation is indeed a call to higher service, but it places a demand on you because ‘to whom much is given, much is expected’. You are expected, therefore, to imbibe the uncommon sacrificial spirit of this administration and continue to serve our fatherland with absolute determination.

The Governor “You are expected to let your knowledge and wealth of experience add value to service delivery in our State and benefit Akwa Ibom people. Let your appointment to this high office of public trust reinvigorate and strengthen our service delivery mechanism to our people”.

Congratulating them for working hard to merit the appointment, he remarked, “Today your families and well-wishers take pride that you have risen to the peak of your career in the Civil Service through commitment, diligence, hard work and love for your fatherland. This momentous achievement is a further proof that no good work can go unrewarded and that a man who is diligent in his work shall stand before kings and not mean men.

“You are coming on board at the twilight of this administration, but the happy thing is that at the dawn of the new administration you will still be there. Remember, therefore, that you would be judged by your significant contributions and those legacies that would outlive you. As good team players, I implore you to internalize our work ethics and let the new administration benefit from this mindset. We expect you to use you wealth of experience and contribute in building Akwa Ibom State of our dream”, Akpabio pointed out.

According to him, “Today, we have given you marbles; write your names with Gold. We have given you stages, dance and stencil your names in the annals of our history. We have given you bricks and mortars; build skyscrapers for the benefit of the people of our State. This is what we expect from you, this is the whole essence of your appointment, which you must rise up to”.

“This administration counts on you. The good people of Akwa Ibom State believe in you, they rejoice with you today, they are hopeful and have unwavering confidence that you will make the state proud, your loved ones and family members look up to you to effectively represent them and imprint your name in the record of our State.

“They are hopeful and have unwavering confidence that your elevation today will be a major boost to the Uncommon Transformation of our State. Therefore, let their confidence spur and motivate you to live up to expectations in your service delivery”, the Governor stated.

He recalled that his administration has remolded Akwa Ibom State, given a new lease of life to the Akwa Ibom promise, set a template and laid a promising foundation for the rebirth of the State, stressing that the permanent secretaries are at a critical junction in the  journey of the State as they stand poised to concretize the legacies and hand over to a new administration in May 29.

The newly sworn in permanent secretaries are (Dr.) Mrs. Valerie Okon Obot and Mr. Oliver Udoukpo.
