2015: House of Reps candidate promises effective representation
As the clock thickens simultaneously to the 2015 countdown general election is gathering momentum, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate in Ikono and Ini Federal Constituency, Hon. Engr. Iboro Ekanem has promised to give hundred percent (100%) effective representation if voted into power by the good people of Ikono/Ini Local Government Area in the forth approaching elections. 

The PDP flag bearer for the House of Representatives seat stated this when the People’s Democratic Party leadership under the watchful eyes of the indefatigable leader Obong Paul Ekpo, the State Chairman honoured all standard flag bearers of the party in the State with symbolic flags as candidates in various positions. 

The former Board Chairman, and the immediate past Commissioner for Science and Technology could not hide his feelings as he expressed gratitude to the party leadership in the State, the State Governor, His Excellency Chief Godswill Akpabio and indeed the good people of Ikono and Ini for their unwavering support for him during the party’s primaries. 

Engr. Ekanem however, promised to initiate a level standard political system that would engender effective development in all facets of human’s strata in Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency. 

According to Engr. Ekanem, his words, “I am holding this flag on behalf of the good people of Ikono and Ini, as their standard flag bearer to represent them in the Federal House of Representatives. The standard of this flag I am holding today is to bring about effective development, empowerment and a change of fortunes to the good people of the area when I win in the forth-coming election”, Engr. Iboro explained. 

The former Chairman of Ikono Local Government reiterated his commitment to ensure he attracts good dividends of democracy to the people. 

His statement reads in part; “by the special grace of God, if I win this election, I will ensure my leadership style attracts effective development to the people. And this effective development would bring about the presence of executive arms of government in order to create job opportunity to our teaming youth in the constituency,” he boosted. 

Reacting to the defection of some PDP members to APC in the area, Engr. Iboro Ekanem called on the defectors to bury their grievances and come back to work for the success of the People’s Democratic Party in the forth coming elections. 

He said, “there is no way that APC will defeat PDP in Ikono/Ini, I therefore use this opportunity to appeal to my brothers and sisters who feel they are cheated in one way or the other to come back to PDP and work as a united people so as to claim a unanimous victory for the party in all ramifications”, Engr. Iboro requested. 

On the challenges facing the two Local Government Areas, especially the issue of road and youth – lack of employment, Engr. Iboro Ekanem stated that, his representation if given a chance to represent the people would surely take care of those factors because according to him, he said, “he will ensure that he works tirelessly with other arms of government both at the Federal and the State levels to ensure that the plight engulfing the people of Ikono/Ini are eradicated in due course”. 

Similarly, he also promised to effectively empower youth through various organs of skills acquisition programmes, the women and indeed the entire people of the area to reduce their suffering in the long run. 

Conclusively, he called on the entire people of Ikono and Ini to ensure they collect their voter’s card from the INEC office in the two local government areas to enable them vote for all PDP candidates in the up-coming elections.
