Uruan students elect new exco BY NSIKAN NYONG

The National Association of Uruan Students, University of Uyo chapter has elected a new Exco. This took place after the former Exco led by comrade David Udomkpoyo had been resolved last month.

Addressing the students at the Poll Unit, the Electoral Commission Chairman of the Association, Comrade Edet Iberedem assured the students of a free and fair election.  He said, “we shall do everything good to have free and fair election today as it is the culture of Uruan students ....” He also stated electoral offices vied for by the students to include offices of the President, Vice-President, Secretary General, Auditor General and four other offices, totalling 8 executive offices.

According to the result issued by the students Electoral Commission in close surveillance by officials of the Security Unit and members of the Students Affairs Unit of the University, Comrade  Effiong Effiong of the department of  physical and  health Education emerged President of the Association.    

Mr Julius Daniel who represented the Chief Security of the University in his statement said: “There was nothing as a bridge of rules in the just concluded Uruan students election” He also added that the Uruan students election was one of the most free and fair election he has ever witnessed in the campus political scenario and encouraged other students to mimic the path of Uruan students.

In his speech, the newly-elected President of the Association, Comrade Effiong Effiong, thanked the students for believing in him and granting him the opportunity to serve. He promised to handle the affairs of the association with transparency.
