Uduyork joins race for National Assembly
* Picks Ubong Inyang as campaign Director

THE Chairman of Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, Mr Francis Charles Uduyork has declared his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for Mkpat Enin, Ikot Abasi, Eastern Obolo Federal constituency come the 2015 general elections. The council boss made his position known to some party stakeholders of the federal constituency when he hosted them in his Ikot Akpanabia palatial residence last week

Uduyork boasted that it was the turn of Eastern Obolo to produce the next Natioanl Assembly member as according to those who attended the meeting, Uduyork believes that the Obolos of the federal Constituency deserves a shot at the green chambers of the National Assembly. He is said to have stressed the need for the people of the federal constituency to back him in order to make him emerge as the successor to Akpan Micah Umoh against other contenders.

The Eastern Obolo strongman is said to have expressed reservation over the attitude of the Governor on his recent endorsement of Hon Akpan Micah Umoh which he noted was uncalled for. Uduyork, it could be recalled had earlier contested the legislative position for his area but lost out nand was however compensated on his return match to the council as the Chairman of Eastern Obolo.

Sources who attended the meeting said, Uduyork was furious and highly provoked questioning why the Governor would endorse Akpan Micah for a second term and however maintained that he was going to fight the election to the end. He appealed to party stakeholders who were present to do all they can to mobilize support for him as he will not fail to appoint them into positions in his campaign train.

His guests are said to have informed him of their readiness to stand by him to ensure that he wins and emerges the next National Assemblyman under all circumstances. Stakeholders are said to have backed his ambition while also querrying the rationale behind Akpabio’s endorsement of Micah for a second term. 

With his recent open declaration that he is interested in the race for the House of Representatives, it has made the race appear to be a three horse affair as he has Ekong Sampson and the incumbent Akpan Micah to contend with. Amongst those who attended the meeting were Ubong Ekefre, Chief Levite Uzono, Aniefiok Smart, Nse Michael and Ubong Inyang who is to chair Uduyork’s campaigns amongst others.
