Udom Ekpoudom treats TIS students to a valentine party
Last Friday was a remarkable date for students of the Tower of Ivory Schools located at Ediene Abak in Abak Local Government Area following the Valentine party they were hosted to by the management of the School led by the Chairman of the board of Governors DIG Prince Udom Ekpoudom rtd.

The event featured dance by the school students, Choreography, drama, poem recitation and a lots of other varieties. The Director of Schools Mrs. Ekpoudom took the students and guests down memory lane telling the audience the history of St. Valentine. Mrs. Ekpoudom spoke on the need for the school children to always live in peace with one another and also be their brothers keepers noting that in doing so, they are showing love to one another.

Ekpoudoum a school teacher of no mean repute reminded the students and guests that since God is Love, then his followers must always exhibit the characteristics of love at all times. She commended the students for always living a godly life and prayed God to bless them even as they remember St. Valentine.


A resource person and a teacher in the Department of Languages also spoke on Valentine and the need for the children to always love one another stressing that it is one of the fruits of the holy spirit which the children need to hold on to at all times. She commended the school management for putting up the event and reminded that love is the greatest asset anyone can give to the society.

In his speech which was brief and straight to the point, the Chairman Board of Governors of Tower of Ivory Schools DIG Udom Ekpoudom rtd, while restating the determination of the management of the School to ensure that the level of Education in the School is not dropped observed that the Valentine party was necessary so that the students could be formally tutored on the essence of Valentine celebration so that they won’t be deceived outside on what Valentine is not about. The TIS chairman of Board of Governors stressed that the event was packaged to also used in celebrating the prefects of the school who piloted students activities for the 2013/2014 academic session and also an exchange of guards as the 2014/2015 prefects were also inducted into the school.

Ekpoudom in a charge to the new prefects advised them to see the junior students as their brothers and sisters and encourage them to exhibit good leadership skills that will get them to the zenith of their career in the near future. He commended the outgoing prefects whom he said showed good signs of leadership.

High point of the event was the inductions of new prefects in a colourful and exciting approach were the General prefect emeritus directed affairs and finally handed the mantle of leadership to the new prefects. Mr. Ekwere the school Principal gave a brief expose to the students on what leadership is all about and tasked them to see themselves as servants who are out to serve the interests of their junior colleagues and classmates.

 He described leadership as an opportunity to serve. The outgoing prefect of the School thanked the School management for the opportunity to serve and promised that himself and his colleagues will always remember the service and the lessons they learnt in the process. He promised that they will ensure that they allow the lessons learnt to do a good thing in their lives. The new General Prefect thanked the Tower of Ivory Schools management for the confidence on them and promised to ensure that they don’t disappoint the School as they set out for their responsibilities.
