Consult widely before anointing a successor - Group tells Akpabio
A formidable socio  political group in the state, Akwa Ibom Consolidation Assembly has raised its voice of concern to Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio over his choice of a successor. Rising from its New Year eve congress that witness over six hundred (600) delegates across the state at Uyo, the Akwa Ibom Consolidation Assembly in a press release made available to our news room commended Governor Akpabio for the record breaking 9, 999b Christmas Carol Festival which beamed to worldwide audience complete with national, international and local performance to make the event a historic one.

ACA, however drew the attention of the Governor to the noble objectives of setting up AKPABIOSM, a centre for leadership development which held yet another lecture recently, arguing that the primary objective f the centre is to train leadership quotients of the people, assist in mentoring the youths and set agenda for leadership recruitment.

ACA acknowledged that such noble objectives are needful for the Governor as he seeks to transit successfully in 2015.  ACA therefore enjoined the Governor to consult very widely with critical political stakeholders before anointing a successor in office, so as not to repeat the mistake of his predecessor in office made. This was contained in the Press Statement tagged New Year message to Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio.

ACA restated their firm belief in the principles of equity, justice and fair play and maintains that, if this must be upheld, then zoning of the governorship in 2015 to Eket Senatorial District must be adhered to, and once it is settled, the people of Eket Senatorial District must have to sit down and deliberate where the governor should emerge from and which federal constituency best serves and satisfies the cherished ideals of equity, fair play and justice so as to justify the essence of the zoning.

ACA reiterates their support for Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio and pledged their continued loyalty to his administration, but still expressed concern that, the issue of his successor has yet to be satisfactorily advised, hence their call for the Governor to consult more widely before making up his mind on who and what best serves the interest of the generality of Akwa Ibom people.

The Press Statement signed by the National Chairman of Akwa Ibom Consolidation Assembly, Rt. Hon. Magnus Archibong, wished the Governor and the good people of Akwa Ibom State a Prosperous 2014, and also restated their readiness to partner with the Governor towards actualizing his succession agenda.
