Akpabio is the most gender friendly governor in Nigeria – Geraldine Etuk

The State president of  National Council of  Women Society of Nigeria (NCWS) Obongwan (Mrs) Geraldine Ita Ekuk, has described Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio has the most gender friendly Governor in Nigeria. 

 Mrs. Etuk stated this in Uyo while exchanging  views with Journalist on the recent award given to Governor Godswill Akpabio by Nigeria Women  under the ages of National Council of Women Society of Nigeria,  in recognition of his gender friendly disposition in Akwa Ibom state, especially the recent appointment of Barr. Valerie Ebe as the deputy Governor.

She hinted  that about  400 women in Akwa Ibom state were in Abuja  to  play host to Governor Akpabio  and his Wife  Mrs. Ekaette  Unoma  Akpabio as the mark  of honor in recognition of their benevolence to women in the State.

According to Geraldine Etuk, Governor Akpabio and the wife have embarked on lives transforming  projects that has brought succor to the women even as she poured  accolades on the Governor’s wife for building houses to many widows across the 31 Local Government Areas of the State. 

  

The women activist gave kodus to  President Goodluck Jonathan  and Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio for their  sterling administrative leadership prowess and for bringing women into  the Federal and State executive Councils, noting that over thirteen women in Nigeria are appointed by President GoodLuck Jonathan into the Federal Executive Council as Ministers in various Ministries.

 She described  Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio as God sent leader who had brought so many women into the State Executive Council and equally ensuring that women are appointed as Local Government Chairmen, members of Boards and Commissions, stressing that, Governor Godswill  Akabio’s leadership  style would continued to be admired by all even after the expiration of his tenor In 2015.

Geraldine Etuk  reasoned that the present Leadership  of women in Nigeria led by Dame Patient Jonathan is very pragmatic and Peaceful because she understands and work in Partnership with the  apex umbrella women organization “National Council of Women Society”  (NCWS), and Pledged the Support of Akwa Ibom women to the Akpabio’s administration.

 Obongwan Ekuk charged women in Akwa Ibom State to Support Governor Godswill saying the Governor wife Mrs Ekaette Unoma Akpabio has played vita roles to ensure that women are Placed in strategic Offices both appointed and elected ranging from commissioner to  the Local Government level and  that of other tier of Government within  and outside the State.

“Women in Akwa Ibom have never had it so good because the Governor is wife Mrs Ekaette Unoma Akpabio has play vital roles to marking sure that our women are critically placed in the position of power in the State and beyond”.
